The department runs on two faculty and 6 senior residents.
4 days a week. About 50 – 60 patients visit per OPD.
Majority are referrals from other Delhi govt. hospitals (viz. Hedgewar, GTB, DSCI, etc.)
We evaluate each patient from preliminary history, examination and order appropriate investigations pertaining to labs and imaging.
We also perform certain simple procedures such as drain removal, suture removal, image guided biopsies (in collaboration with radiologist).
20 bed ward and 8 bed ICU
We have dedicated doctors – available 24 hours.
Preoperative optimization of patients
Postoperative care, assessment for complications and appropriate interventions, including but not limited to emergency re-surgeries
Discharges and referrals where appropriate
5 days a week.
About 30 procedure per month.
We have well equipped laparoscopic OT.
Majority (~75%) are pertaining to luminal and solid malignancies of GI system.
Non- malignancy procedures- Gall bladder and biliary system stone diseases, hydatid cyst, hernias, and bariatric surgeries.
Several of the above procedures are performed laparoscopically, with good patient outcomes.
