DEPARTMENT OF CARDIOLOGY
Department of Cardiology at RGSSH is at the forefront in the management of patients with various heart ailments. It is equipped with state of the art equipments and is managed by a team of experienced faculty and resident doctors.
The department follows evidence based patient management pathways. It is actively involved in teaching, research & training of junior doctors & paramedical staff. The department is allocated one candidate every year for training to the award of Diplomat National Board in Cardiology degree.
There are two Cardiac Cath Laboratories performing diagnostic angiography and cardiac interventions like PTCA, stenting, peripheral angioplasty and structural heart diseases interventions. There is facility to implant pacemaker devices and other advanced devices like AICD, CRT etc.
Non invasive Cardiology Laboratory has following facilities:
- Two advanced 2D Echocardiography and Colour Doppler machines for transthoracic & Transesophageal Echocardiography, stress Echocardiography and peripheral Colour Doppler.
- Twenty four hours Holter monitor for Heart Rhythm monitoring
- Tread Mill Test (TMT) to evaluate chest pain & exercise capacity.
Two Coronary Care Units well equipped with multifunctional bedside monitors, ventilators & defibrillators for post cardiac interventions and other serious heart patients.
